There’s always loads going on behind the scenes in the studio - developing new projects, research, making applications etc. - and I’m always mindful of how much to share of the speculative stuff as there’s quite a lot of stuff that never really goes anywhere for one reason or another, but people are always keen to know what else is happening, so…
For a few years now I’ve been taking with my old pal (and artist) Dan Bass about making a documentary about the late 80s/early 90s music scene in Margate, of which we were a part. Finally, we’re making a bit of a concerted push on this.
I’m talking with the writer Jon Gower about illustrating a book of his new short stories.
I'm developing a collaborative project with Dr Tom Cardwell, which will most likely see the creation of a Black Metal band and the recording of an album of songs based on the Welsh stories of the Mabinogion.
I’ve also been talking with another old pal, Danny Webster, about writing his biography. Danny was a very successful vert-skater back in the 80s, then ended up drumming with the punk band The Anti-Nowhere League through the early 2000s, before becoming a prison guard. Needless to say he’s had a pretty interesting life.
I’m also in the write up year of a PhD, focussing on the transference of agency and an audience’s role in the completion and activation of an artwork.
Things will be added to, and knocked off, the above list as and when they’re completed or hit a brick wall, but all of these are pretty tangible things right now. If you’re interested to know more, or even get involved in any of them, click the links or drop me a line.
